Mike Egan Speaker Biography
Mike Egan is on a mission to help Americans unleash the power within them to build a stronger financial future. The 2008/2009 upheaval in the financial market has revealed serious gaps in the retirement preparedness for a majority of Americans – 50 Million of whom are at risk.
Mike has provided financial advice to clients and advisors since 1990 when he joined the institutional division of Lehman Brothers, Inc. in New York City. While there, Mike structured and executed swap and derivative transactions totaling over $8 billion for Fortune 20 companies. Mike then earned an MA in Economics at New York University and an MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He then created the Corporate and Executive Services Group at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. in Baltimore. Mike’s group provided comprehensive wealth management services to corporate executives with assets totaling in excess of $300 million.
Mike currently provides advice to over 60,000 financial advisors as Managing Director of a Boston-based broker-dealer. His ability to clearly articulate the truth behind complex financial instruments has made him an indispensable resource to the industry.
Mike believes that his expertise in the financial industry should not just be limited to corporate executives. This belief has caused Mike to volunteer his time on various boards such as the President’s Advisory Council and the Career Development Committee of Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. and as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Pelican Bay Foundation. Mike has also helped develop future financial professionals by participating in the Renaissance Academy at Florida Gulf Coast University by creating a course on Investment Management.
A nationally recognized speaker, Mike shares his specific ideas and solutions with hundreds of financial professionals and individuals across the United States each year addressing current investment and retirement planning misconceptions.
